Mr. Bernabe G. Valdez Jr. Resident of Lubbock

Mr. Bernabe G. Valdez Jr. 82, of Lubbock passed away peacefully on Sunday January 30, 2022, in Lubbock. A visitation will be held Sunday February 13, 2022 5-8 p.m. in the Chapel of Grace Funeral Care 3418 Interstate 27. A funeral service will be held Monday February 14, 2022 11 a.m. at the same location. He will be laid to rest in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Bernabe was born August 9, 1939, in Gregory, Texas to Bernabe Valdez Sr. and Bartola Gomez. Bernabe served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years prior to being discharged. He enjoyed family time and was especially fond of his grandchildren. Bernabe worked in janitorial service for many years prior to his retirement. His favorite pastime hobbies were listening to “Oldies but Goodies” music, dancing, playing cards, and dominoes.  Bernabe also played the guitar by which he learned by ear. He also loved good food and frequent Golden Corral and Mexican cuisine. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Susiana Valdez, children; Bernabe Valdez III (Jeanette), Cynthia Sanchez (Jimmy), Omar Valdez, Delilah Diaz, Yolanda Valdez, and Rachel Romo (Carlos). He also leaves to cherish his memory, his sister; Clemencia Valdez “Margie” (Gilbert), 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
