Mrs. Jesusa S. Soto 73, of Meadow passed away on Saturday November 13, 2021, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. Jesusa was born in Tahoka, Texas to Francisco and Marcelina Saldana on January 20,1948. Jesusa married the love of her life, Juan “John” Soto on May 24, 1964. To this matrimony was born 4 biological children: Kristina, Laura, Abigail, and Joel. Jesusa and her husband Rev. Juan “John” Soto believers and servants of Christ, traveled many cities teaching and preaching the Gospel.
Jesusa was a loyal servant and enjoyed helping others. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan as well. Jesusa was known for her amazing homemade tortillas and burritos which she would sell to the local community. Jesusa completed her Early Childhood Education Degree and worked in childcare development as a pre-school teacher.
Some of her favorite foods were Fideo Con Carne, tater tots, and onion rings from Sonic. She will be remembered as a prayer warrior, amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. A visitation receiving family and friends will be held Friday November 19, 2021, 5-8 p.m. in the Chapel of Grace Funeral Care 1211 Lubbock Road in Brownfield. Celebration of Life service will be Saturday November 20, 2021, 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Meadow 301 W. Moorhead Street with Ezekiel “Zeek” Pesina as celebrant. Mrs. Soto will be laid to rest in the Meadow Cemetery near her son and daughter.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband of 57 years; Juan Soto, her children; Kristina Soto Chacon (Juan Carlos), Laura Zavala (Robert), and a special adopted daughter/granddaughter, Amanda Vega Martin (Gregory). She also leaves to cherish her memory 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, her pet duck Aflac and a host of other relatives and friends.
Jesusa is preceded in death by her daughter; Abigail Rivas, son; Joel John Soto, and her parents; Francisco and Marcelina Saldana.
Serving as pallbearers are the following gentlemen: Juan Carlos Chacon, Robert Zavala Jr, Gregory Martin, Eduardo Cadena, Johnny Soto, Joshua Soto, Ariam Villegas, and Ruben Saldana.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are the following great-grandchildren Caleb Martin and Ezekiel Martin.
