Our beloved wife, mother, sister, Tía, grandma, and friend. Victoria “Vicky” Martinez Torrez passed
peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 64. A public visitation will be held Tuesday January 10th 5-8 p.m. with a recitation of rosary beginning at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday January 12, 2023 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Rudolf Crasta officiating. She will be laid to rest at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Vicky. Our family is thankful for all the support and prayers received during this time.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Edward T. Torrez, her parents Nehemias and
Guadalupe Martinez, her sisters Cecilia Martinez, and Lupe Martinez, and brothers Nehemias Martinez
Jr. (wife- Rachel), Alfred Martinez, Jesse Martinez (deceased), and Marcos Martinez(wife-Cyndi). She will
be missed by her children Jose B. Martinez (deceased), Erica Vasquez, Jose Vasquez Jr., Edward Torrez
Jr., Eric Michael Torrez, and Steven Torrez. Her 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous
nieces and nephews will greatly miss her loving presence.
Vicky was born on April 4, 1958, in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from Lubbock high school in 1978 and
attended South Plains College. She married Edward T. Torrez on January 1, 1996. She was an active and
dedicated member of Our Lady of Grace church where she was a choir member, Guadalupana, part of
the Cursillo Movement and an ACTS sister. Vicky loved to bake, and according to her grandchildren, she
made the best pumpkin pie. She will be remembered for her generosity and always putting others first,
ready to serve anyone in need.
