On October 31, 2022, Barbara Houston rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings; she was 67 years old.
A visitation will be held Friday November 11, 2022, 5- 8 p.m. at Grace Funeral Care-Brownfield 1211 Lubbock Road. A service celebrating her life and honoring her legacy will be Saturday November 12, 2022, 12 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Seagraves. Pastor David Boyd, officiating. She will be laid to earthly rest in the Gaines County Cemetery.
Barbara Jean Houston was born on December 17, 1954, in Brady, Texas to the late Mr. Wallace Carter Houston Sr, and Mrs. Mandie Houston. Upon graduating from Hobbs High school, Barbara went hard to work. After her talents in the field with Shell Pipeline, and many years at Walmart in Seminole Tx- Barbara entered the school system. From Head Start in Hobbs, NM to her retirement in 2020 from Seagraves ISD, the children and staff adored “Nana Barbara”.
A beloved resident of the small town of Seagraves; Barbara enjoyed playing cards, reviving plants, singing in the Mt. Olive Baptist choir, and most of all spoiling her great-grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her daughters: Lawanna Houston and Olympia Houston {Patrick} both of Seagraves TX, Grandchildren: KeOndra Minjarez (Javier) of Lubbock TX, Saravia Houston (Quashus), Meshach Hall, And Jarius Hall all of Seagraves TX. Great-Grandchildren: Journi and Ja’Niya Harrell of Seagraves TX, Jaevien and Jeh’Siah Minjarez of Lubbock TX, Xylan Williams of Seagraves TX, and Hazel Minjarez of Lubbock TX. Mother: Mandie Houston of Seagraves TX, and sisters: Doris Houston Jackson of Arizona, Tammie Houston of Seagraves TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, and family.
Welcoming Barbara to her heavenly home is her father: Wallace Carter Houston Sr (2005) and brothers, Antonio Joe Houston (1970) and Wallace Carter Houston Jr. “Brother” (2020).
