Mrs. Edelia Alvarez 78, of Lubbock left to her eternal resting place with our Lord and Savior on Monday December 12,2022.
A visitation will be held on Sunday December 18, 2022, 5pm-8pm with a Rosary celebration from 6pm -7pm at Grace Funeral Care Lubbock 6604 Interstate 27. On Monday December 19, 2022, she will be laid to rest with a Mass starting at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic church and following burial to Lubbock City Cemetery.
Edelia was born December 28, 1944, in Donna Texas to Apollonio and Maria De La Luz Hernandez, and later moved to Lubbock, Tx and married Ramiro Alvarez in 1965 having 6 children and raised a granddaughter as her daughter becoming one of her own. Edelia enjoyed cleaning houses as a career most of her life and being the most amazing mom to all her children. She had many friends that she enjoyed their company as well.
She enjoyed watching Shirley Temple, Johnny Cash movies and especially her Novelas on her spare time. Flowers, roses bushes and hummingbirds and sitting outside was her favorite place to go for peace and quiet time. She enjoyed serving as a Guadalupana at St. Joseph Catholic church. She enjoyed spending time with all her children and later she loved spending time with all her grandchildren and seeing them grow up. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years of marriage Ramiro Alvarez, 3 sons; Tino Alvarez of California, Arnie Alvarez (Martha), Rafael Alvarez both of Lubbock 3 daughters; Ida Guzman (Jamie) , Christina Alvarez, Alexandra Alvarez (Juan Carlos Chavez) all of Lubbock, 15 grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Apollonio and Maria De La Luz Hernandez, a daughter Gloria Alvarez, three brothers Gilbert Hernandez, Juan (Ben) Silva, Rey Hernandez.
The family would like to thank Beyond Faith for the excellent care of their beloved one. They would also like to thank Grace Funeral Cremation Care for all their hard work, dedication, and professionalism in caring for their loved one during this difficult time making it easy for the family.
