Richard Hernandez

Richard Hernandez, 75, of Lubbock, Texas passed away November 6, 2023.

He was born March 29, 1948, to Francisco and Eugenia Hernandez in La Salle, Colorado.  

 Although born in La Salle, Richard was raised in Mexico City by his grandmother. After spending the formative years of his life in Mexico he would return to the States and serve in the U.S. Navy on the USS Hancock during the Vietnam War, which became one of his proudest achievements. Richard was a kind and loving soul who saw the best in everyone and was never afraid to make a new friend anywhere he went. He lived a very long and successful life filled with many outrageous adventures and events. When he wasn’t enjoying a beautiful night by the fire, enjoying a carnita asada with a cold beer in hand, or watching Cruz Azul play, he would spend his time being a caring person to his loved ones.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Alejandra Hernandez; sons, Richie Hernandez, Luis Hernandez, Aaron Hernandez, Edgar Vazquez; and daughter Graciela Hernandez

Preceded in death by Francisco and Eugenia Hernandez, parents and son, Georgie Hernandez.

A visitation will be held from 10am to 11:30am, Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Grace Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will begin 11:30am, Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Grace Funeral Chapel with Monsignor David Cruz officiating.
